Miracle Treat Day: Making a difference one Blizzard at a time

Aug 11, 2022 | 5:00 AM

There has never been a better day for some ice cream.

Thursday, Aug. 11, is Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen locations across Saskatchewan with 100 percent of net proceeds from each Blizzard treat sold donated to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Community engagement director with the foundation, Tanner Braaten, said Miracle Treat Day is always a special day with this year also marking a milestone for the initiative.

“It’s our 20th year running the Miracle Treat Day with Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation, and we’re just really excited to be back full-scale,” Braaten said. “It doesn’t matter where in Saskatchewan you are, you’re helping kids at your local children’s hospital.”

In 2021 alone, children’s hospitals across Canada delivered care to children through nearly three million in-person and virtual visits.

Since Dairy Queen’s partnership with the Children’s Miracle Network in Canada began in 1984, the restaurant chain has helped raise more than $46 million in Canada alone.

In addition to donating all Blizzard sales, Dairy Queen will also be accepting donations that will go directly to helping children and families receive access to specialized care they receive at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.
