Fall season approaching

Indoor soccer registration now open in the Battlefords

It won’t be long until the indoor soccer season kicks off in the Battlefords.

Registration is now open for the 2022 indoor soccer season, for both Battlefords Youth Soccer (BYSI) league play, and Battlefords United Football Club (BUFC) – the competitive soccer program.

Indoor soccer has been a growing sport in the community the last couple of years, something head coach and competitive coordinator with BUFC, Kat Huxley said they’ve been pleased to see trending strong again this year through the early going of registrations.

“So far it looks so good, we’ve had a ton of registrations and lots of people interested and asking questions so they can get their kids registered,” she said. “It’s been awesome just to see the amount of new kids joining our program and having great experiences and their parents having great experiences with their children in our program.”

The indoor soccer season will be looking to carry on the momentum gained from a benchmark summer season for both regular league play and the competitive program, across the age groups.

“This summer our outdoor season was phenomenal and we saw a massive increase in both our regular league and our competitive program,” Huxley said. “Our competitive program pretty much doubled in size with about 10 to 11 teams, which was the most we’ve ever had, and we had a huge influx of kids in our U9 and U11 groups especially, so we’re hoping a lot of that rolls over into our indoor program.”

Regular league games will begin the week of Oct. 12 and run to mid-December with the U5, U7, and U9 age groups playing Saturdays, and U11s and U13s playing Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The competitive program will offer U9 to U19 age groups (pending registration numbers) and train Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from October to February.

Early bird registration for the fall indoor soccer season is available until Sept. 16, after which fees will increase.
