RCMP Report: Several arrests for assault

Jul 28, 2022 | 11:26 AM

There were multiple arrests related to an altercation last week with one subject threatening police.

Police were called to 900 block of 101st Street at 12:21 a.m. on July 20 to investigate a report of a fight between three unknown males. Officers found an intoxicated man who was bleeding from his eybrow, which required medical attention at the hospital.

During the investigation, two other adult males that were involved were located, with one arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. The third male had a warrant for his arrest for failing to comply with a probation order; in addition to currently breaching his probation by failing to keep the peace.

The accused was ultimately arrested for assault causing bodily harm to the first adult male, in addition to his outstanding warrant and breach of probation. While being transported to the RCMP detachment the man threatened to kill the transporting police officer and damaged the vehicle by kicking the door.

He‘s since been released for court, with multiple charges pending, including uttering threats against a person, failing to comply with a probation order and mischief under $5,000.

Conditions breached

Battlefords RCMP have arrested a woman on multiple offences following an incident on Monday.

That morning, police were dispatched to a rural residence, where a woman on probation with conditions had reportedly thrown food around the house, threw a bottle of mustard at the head of her mother and yelled that she would burn the house down. The woman had then left the residence with her four-year-old daughter, who she did not have legal custody of, prompting concern from the child’s father.

As reported by the RCMP, the subject came back, yelling and insulting everyone in the vicinity, including the police, while pulling on the arm of her daughter and dragging her around aggressively. Members attempted to de-escalate the situation before eventually arresting the woman for breaching her condition of keeping the peace. While attempting to take her into custody, she resisted arrest, assaulting the arresting officer by biting, scratching and kicking him, causing some injuries.

Pending charges against the accused include assault on police, mischief under $5,000 (obstructing enjoyment of property), failing to comply with a probation order and two counts of resisting/obstructing a police officer.

In another assault investigation, police attended the 1300 block on 105th Street where a man was covered in blood. EMS were called to tend to his injuries, including wounds to the face and fingers.

As a result of further investigation, there are charges pending for a 22-year-old male for aggravated assault.

Other investigations.

Police dealt with 13 break and enter files, including one arrest. Members were called to a residence in the RM of North Battleford for an incident in progress. They quickly located an adult male outside the residence, who was subsequently arrested and charged.
