Residents in the area are asked to seek immediate shelter or shelter in place. Close and lock doors and windows. Do not pick up hitchhikers. Do not disclose police locations. Call 911 to report emergencies or tips.

The alert covers an area including Prince Albert, North Battleford, Saskatoon and other nearby communities.

“Everybody here is wondering what’s happening,” said Langham Coun. Carol Epp.

She said residents in the area received an alert on their phones to shelter in place. Saskatchewan issued the emergency alert at 7:40 a.m.

“We haven’t left the house. We see flashing lights and police cars going back and forth,” she said. “I just hope everyone is OK.”

Mayor Gary Epp said he also did not know what was happening but said there is a heavy police presence in the community. He said the best thing for people to do is to wait for further direction from police.
