A man from Mistawasis First Nation is facing over a dozen charges, after a stolen vehicle was involved in the ramming of a police car near Warman.

On June 29th, at approximately 7 a.m., RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Range Road 3061. The investigation determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from Leask, SK the day prior.

When they found the vehicle, officers activated their emergency lights and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle did not stop and proceeded to ram a police vehicle, before continuing to drive away.

The police vehicle was heavily damaged, while the officer sitting inside of it received minor injuries.

Approximately 10 minutes later, the stolen vehicle was located on Highway 12 and the driver was soon after arrested. A firearm was located and seized during the arrest.

Mitchell Pechawis, 32, appeared Tuesday at Saskatoon Provincial Court and was remanded to Thursday for a bail hearing.

His charges include assault with weapon, assaulting a police officer with weapon, flight from police officer, and three counts of failing to comply with release order condition.
