North Stars set date for annual Golf Classic

Battlefords North Stars fans and team supporters can begin to warm up their swing for the team’s annual Golf Classic.

The Stars announced Tuesday they will be hosting their Golf Classic on September 10 at the Jackfish Lodge and Conference Centre.

This year will mark just the second time the team has held the event ahead of the start of the hockey season in September, something that was tried for the first time last year that turned out to be a real boon for the club.

“It went really well with having the event while our players were in town, as they were able to help out at hole-in-one holes, play in the event, and just help out where they could,” said Brayden Klimosko, North Stars Head Coach. “Then obviously people who played in the tournament can get to know the guys that will be here for this year too, so we’re looking forward to it.”

Assistant coach Garry Childerhose who’s heading up the organizing of this year’s event added another adjustment will be moving the event to a Saturday for the first time in recent years.

“We’re excited about having it on a Saturday this year, and really looking forward to getting a good group out,” Childerhose said. “We’ve usually had it land on a Friday at noon when a lot of people are working, so we feel this just frees up a lot more people to come out, meet the team and just enjoy the day in all.”

Sign-in on the day of the event will run from 11:15-11:45 a.m., with a shotgun start to follow at 12 p.m.
