RCMP Report P2: More break-in related arrests

Break and enters continue to occur in the Battlefords heading into summer.

The RCMP had 17 new investigations this past week, which included two incidents that resulted in arrests.

Following an attempted robbery on Monday, a 37-year-old male is scheduled for court on July 4, on charges of break and enter and possession of break in tools. He was arrested after being located inside a business compound on the 700 block of 106th Street around 2:20 a.m.

Additionally, 29-year-old Malcolm Moccasin and 26-year-old Charnelle Swiftwolfe were arrested Tuesday evening in connection to a residential break and enter on the Moosomin First Nation. They appeared in court on June 1. A third suspect has also been identified and additional charges are forthcoming.

Other break and enters files include:

  • A residence on the Saulteaux First Nation sometime during the day on May 27. There was entry gained through a window and some household items were reported taken;
  • A business situated at the Battlefords Provincial Park near Cochin, sometime early Monday morning. A chain link fence was cut through to gain access into a compound area;
  • A garage on the 700 block of 100th Street sometime during the day on May 25. A dirt bike was reported stolen;
  • A rural residence near Battleford, which was broken into during the later morning or early afternoon of May 27. A small amount of cash was reported missing;
  • A garage and shed on the 900 block of 106th Street between the evening of May 27 and early morning of May 28. Among the items reported stolen are a paddle board, a mountain bike and a lawn mower;
  • A residence on the Saulteaux First Nation in the evening on May 27. A television was reported stolen.

Vehicle theft arrest

A Buick Lacrosse, originally reported stolen from the Prince Albert district, was recovered on the Saulteaux First Nation early Monday morning. A 29-year-old woman from Saskatoon found operating the vehicle was arrested and faces possession of stolen property, driving while prohibited and possession of forged documents. She was released from custody, pending a first court appearance later this summer.

Police are still looking for a green 2014 Chevrolet Silverado (Sask License 657-ICH), which was reported stolen from the 900 block of 105th Street in North Battleford on May 28.

Other files

Members arrested a 34-year-old male from Lloydminster on weapon and drug possession over the weekend.

The detachment first received a report of an intoxicated man throwing milk in the street on 900 block of 110th Street Saturday evening. Once located, the accused was found to have warrants out of Alberta and British Columbia.

Members also reportedly found a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and a knife on the accused. As a result, he faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

Other files from the nearly 600 calls this week include 14 mental health investigations, 40 various traffic charges, seven traffic collisions, five individuals charged with impaired driving.
