Don’t forget to give!

The seventh annual “On Air for Healthcare” radiothon is on now to raise funds to purchase new life saving medical equipment for the Battlefords Union Hospital.

The Radiothon event runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, May 13, and is being broadcast live on air on Q98, 93.3 The Rock and CJNB.

“I’m super excited for this because it’s such a massive impact for the foundation,” said Nic Fransoo, Q98 Morning Show host and station program director. “The Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation has partnered up with us once again. We’re putting the radiothon behind the foundation to raise funds that are necessary for our healthcare.”

He said it only makes sense for people to participate and do their part.

“When funds are going into our hospital, that care comes back to us,” Fransoo said. “It’s not just me, it’s everybody. It’s the entire community as well.”

This year funds are being raised to purchase life-saving Emergency Department equipment, including a new trauma imaging stretcher that features new technology and options to reduce time, and enable patients to receive specialized care services while remaining in one place.

Funds will also be dedicated to purchase the new LUCAS chest compression system — a type of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) machine that provides CPR compressions at the exact depth, speed and time required to provide the best outcomes for patients.

Fransoo said it’s great to return to the BUH for the radiothon this year.

“It feels so good to be back in the community,” he said. “It will be really nice to see a lot of friendly and familiar faces coming to do good with On Air For Healthcare in support of the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation.”

Fransoo also said a big thanks to the title sponsor Fisher’s Drug Store in North Battleford.

“They always step up,” he said. “They see the need for this. They see the importance of it, and they are there.”

Many ways to donate

People can donate online at buhfoundation.com, call the foundation at 306-446-6652, make their donation in-person directly at the BUH, or at the drive-thru site in the hospital’s front parking lot. There will also be a coin toss barrel at the location for donations.

New this year is the Text-To-Donate line. People can text “donate” to 306-805-1829 to receive a text back with instructions on how to make their donation through the text line.

Fransoo thanks everyone for helping the cause.

“Every penny counts,” he said.
