Town planning virtual presentation on new pump track project

Apr 22, 2022 | 5:00 PM

Those looking forward to taking a ride on the Town of Battleford’s new pump track when it is complete will want to take in the town’s online presentation.

The town will have a virtual information session about the project open to the public at 6 p.m. on April 28, that’s accessible through a link here.

Pump track experts Graham Cooke with Canadian Ramp Company Inc. and Amedeo Gadotti with Velosolutions will provide information about the asphalt track project during the event.

Councillor Alexis Christensen said during the council meeting this week a fairly small group of people have a number of questions about the project, and in some cases concerns. She hopes the virtual event will be an opportunity for everyone to get all the details.

She is encouraging people to view the presentation so they will be better informed about the project.

Town Parks and Recreation manager Jordan Schechtel told battlefordsNOW the online survey to gather public input for the project was completed awhile ago.

“The consultants used that information to help them start on a design,” he said.

The town hopes the pump track installation will get started early this summer.

Schechtel is asking people to attend the virtual presentation next week to find out what the project will look like.

“Pump tracks are relatively new recreation facilities,” he said. “A lot of people are not familiar with them. This would provide the opportunity to tell people what exactly a pump track is, how it differs from a traditional skate board park or a BMX track… For anybody who is curious about what it is and is not familiar with pump tracks, it would be good for them to tune in.”
