Two arrested for illegal firearm on Little Pine

Two suspects were arrested on Little Pine First Nation on Sunday as part of an ongoing investigation.

Cut Knife RCMP executed a search warrant that evening, resulting in the arrests and the seizure of an illegally modified firearm from the residence. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team assisted with the execution of the search warrant.

The two accused, 54-year-old John Sokwaypnace of Little Pine First Nation and a male youth, were both charged with:

  • Unsafe storage of a firearm;
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition;
  • Possession of a weapon with a tampered serial number;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • Possession of a firearm while knowing possession is unauthorized.
