Sask. NDP ask Moe to create plan for addressing overcapacity at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital

Official Opposition Leader Ryan Meili is calling for Premier Scott Moe and the Health Minister to visit the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital after reports of severe overcapacity at the hospital.
According to an urgent notice sent out Wednesday, all pediatric areas at the hospital are overcapacity. Pediatric inpatients remain at 108 per cent, PICU is at 125 per cent capacity, staffing pressures remain high and non-urgent admissions are being deferred.
“It is unacceptable that a child needing care might not be able to get a bed in our brand new children’s hospital. The Premier called this a ‘little challenge’ when for kids and their parents it is a serious and scary situation,” said Meili. “No child who should be getting care in a hospital bed should be stuck in an emergency for days.”
Meili is asking Moe to see the situation first-hand and to create a plan to ease the capacity pressures.
