RCMP looking into catalytic converter thefts in Meadow Lake

Mar 14, 2022 | 3:11 PM

Meadow Lake RCMP are investigating the theft of two catalytic converters late last week.

Sometime between March 8 and Sunday, two separate reports come in of vehicles that had their converters stolen overnight. Because both were Hyundai Tuscons, police believe they were deliberately targeted.

According to the RCMP, thefts of catalytic converters is an increasing problem provincewide, so they are asking the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

As this investigation continues, police are asking anyone with personal security footage on the 600 block of Centre Street to check the tape and notify law enforcement if anything suspicious occurred over the weekend. However, this covers a significant time gap where these thefts could have happened.

Similarly, the detachment is asking for any footage from the 500 block of Second Street West from the night of March 7 to the morning of March 8.

Anyone with information related to these incidents call Meadow Lake RCMP, 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
