Taking feedback

Town survey to guide new pump track build

People will have an opportunity to provide their input for the Town of Battleford’s new pump track to help direct the design before it’s built.

The issue was discussed at the recent council meeting. Council previously approved the initiative back during this year’s budget.

A pump track is described as a track that allows the skater or biker to move without pedaling or putting their feet down on the surface.

“All you have to do is pump your knees up and down,” the town says on its website, adding that pump tracks enable people of all skill levels to engage in some outdoor activity with their bikes.

The project, to be located along the River Valley between 35th Street and the walking path in Battleford, is being designed by firms the Canadian Ramp Company along with Velosolutions.

Residents can complete the online survey available through the link on the Town of Battleford website here to say what they would like to see in the project. The survey will close March 23.

“Get your kids to do it; do it yourselves as parents,” Mayor Ames Leslie said. “It just kind of gives a little bit of perspective back to the planners and the organizers of this, as to what we want to see.”

He said if the organizers receive good feedback on the survey they can make sure they build one “that the community is proud of, and will use significantly.”
