Public advised of recently released offender in Big River First Nation

Saskatchewan RCMP have put out a public safety advisory, stating that a man convicted of violent and sex-related crimes has been released.

Early this morning, 38-year-old Bradley Cory Keenatch shared with police his intentions to reside on Big River First Nation, following the completion of his sentence. He has a criminal record containing both violent and sexual offences connected to substance abuse, as well as a history of reoffending and non-compliance with his release conditions. During his incarceration, he’s completed several education programs for high intensity sex offenders, substance abuse, violence prevention and Indigenous cultural awareness.

Because of Keenatch’s criminal history and limited progress during these programs, Saskatchewan RCMP believe he is at a high risk of reoffending sexually and/or violently after his lawful release.

To help mitigate risk to public safety and contribute to his rehabilitation, the province’s High Risk Offender Unit is currently working with its partners to have conditions imposed on Keenatch for two years after his lawful release. In the meantime, he’s been ordered by court to obey several conditions, including:

• Keep the peace and be of good behavior;
• Live at an approved residence and not change residence;
• Stay inside the approved residence from 10:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.;
• Not possess or consume alcohol or drugs not prescribed by a medical doctor;
• Not enter or be in any place of which the main purpose is to sell alcohol, such as bars or liquor stores;
• Not possess any firearm, ammunition, crossbow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device, prohibited ammunition or explosive substance.

Keenatch is 5-10, 179 lb with a medium build, brown eyes and black hair. He has the word Charmaine tattooed on the interior of his right arm and a complex drawing with black roses tattooed on his left hand, wrist and lower arm.

In a media release, Saskatchewan RCMP stressed that this information is only intended to inform the community of the presence of a high-risk offender and for preventative measures, not for the public to execute any form of unlawful and harmful acts against him. The public safety advisory is being issued under the authority of, and pursuant to, the Saskatchewan Public Disclosure Act.
