City approves discretionary use request for outfitter lodge

North Battleford residents might see a new hunting lodge within the city limits in the near future.

At its meeting this week, council approved a discretionary use request from Feathered Fowl Outfitters Inc. to establish an outfitter lodge at 32 and 42 Railway Avenue West, within the city’s Future Urban Development Zoning District at the northern edge of North Battleford.

Feathered Fowl Outfitters Inc. president Tyson Tabler stated in his application letter to the city that the organization is looking to develop a 5,000 sq. ft. hunting lodge on the north parcel of land. The licensed outfitter has been in business and based out of North Battleford for the past 10 years.

City Planner Ryan Mackrell said the city already completed the process of rezoning the area to allow for this use to be permitted.

“Everything went through fine and was approved by council at the previous meeting,” he said.

The city had advised landowners within a 75-metre radius of the application. Mackrell noted the city received a few general enquires, but no objections to the proposal.

Now that council has approved the use, the company can start the process of applying for a building permit for the project, if it proceeds to this phase.
