RCMP in the Battlefords have multiple investigations open among a jump of 27 vehicle theft reports in the past two weeks.

One of the most distinctive is a Blue 2004 Mercedes Benz, which was reported stolen from Scott Drive in North Battleford on Dec. 19. Robert Armstrong, a 33-year-old from Regina, is currently wanted for theft of a motor vehicle in connection with this incident. The Mercedes has a Saskatchewan license of 135-MKE.

  • White 2011 Chevrolet Impala (SK License 843-LWF) reported stolen from the 200 block of 28th Street in Battleford on Tuesday.

Sgt. Neil Tremblay noted some of the older vehicles are a little easier to hot-wire and since the weather turned cold, people are leaving their vehicles unattended.

“That was the case on several occasions, where the vehicle was stolen while warming up,” he said.

“I get that it’s very cold, people don’t want to sit in their vehicle. But if there’s no means of securing it, or there’s no command start, that’s something you got to think about, because those vehicles are often targeted.”

Rural vehicle theft

On Dec. 27, St. Walburg RCMP Detachment received a theft complaint from a business in Paradise Hill. The stolen semi is described as a white 2001 Freightliner, with a Saskatchewan license plate of 315-KSI. Police continue to investigate and are seeking public assistance.

Anyone with information on any incident is urged to call their local detachment or Crime Stoppers.
