COVID vaccine walk-in clinics set up in northern communities over holiday weekend

Dec 29, 2021 | 1:23 PM

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) will be providing COVID-19 vaccine clinics to northern communities over the holiday weekend.

Both walk-in and booked clinic appointments spots are available from Dec. 29 through Jan. 2 in the following communities:

  • Battlefords
  • Île-à-la-Crosse
  • La Ronge
  • Lloydminster
  • Meadow Lake
  • Prince Albert
  • Sandy Bay

From Dec. 29 through Jan. 31 in Northern Saskatchewan There are currently over 11,000 appointments available.

Currently all residents aged five and older are eligible for first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine with all residents 18 and older eligible for vaccine boosters.

The expanded capacity will provide additional access to the COVID-19 vaccines, including booster doses for those eligible. Immunization against COVID-19 remains our best defense against the virus and its variants of concern such as the Delta and Omicron variant, both of which are extremely transmissible.

Breakthrough data from the month of November shows that ICU admission are approximately four times higher among the unvaccinated compared to fully vaccinated residents.

Being fully vaccinated and getting your booster greatly reduces the risk of contracting COVID-19, as well as reducing the risk of serious illness or death if you are infected with the virus.

Please check the SHA walk-in clinics webpage for the most up-to-date details, including times and addresses of clinics in communities near you. Appointments can be booked online or over the phone at 1-833-SASKVAX (727-5829).
