Christmas Eve offered quite a happy surprise for a couple from Saulteaux First Nation, who welcomed newborn triplets into their family.

The babies, Mylee Ayda Caplette – weighing 2 lbs., 15 oz., Phrankie Anne Truth Caplette – weighing 2 lbs., 15 oz., and Meah Liza Lee Caplette – weighing 2 lbs., 11 oz., were born from 7:34 a.m. to 7:37 a.m., on Dec. 24 at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon.

“My little trio is so cute. I am truly blessed to give birth to triplet girls,” proud mom Chantel Caplette said on her Facebook Page.

Caplette, who is 36 years old, also has four other children- Zoey Caplette-Stone, 20, Tyson Jr. Stone, 16, Teagen Stone, 12, and Rolen Stone, 9.

Both mom, Chantel, and the triplets’ father, Malcolm Moccasin, are overjoyed.

Caplette said in a message to battlefordsNOW that it was “shocking and amazing at the same time,” when the couple first found out they were having triplets back in September.

Caplette thanked the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, her daughter Zoey and her aunt Carolyn “for the amazing support.”

“Carolyn was with me throughout the delivery. She was so supportive; she reassured me that everything was going to be ok,” she said.

Judy Caplette, Chantel’s mother, said she is thrilled to welcome her new grandchildren.

Noella Moccasin, Chantel’s aunt, who says she is also a “Kohkum,” is delighted to have triplets now in the family.

“Wow! Words can never express something that great,” she told battlefordsNOW.

Moccasin added that she is also “honoured and proud” that one of the triplets, Meah Liza Lee, was named after her daughter.
