Stars fall 7-1 in lead-in to holidays in Humboldt

The Battlefords North Stars fell 7-1 to the division-rival Broncos, Saturday night in Humboldt.

Holden Doell scored the lone goal for the team, while Michael Harroch stopped 20 of 27 shots against, including a number of high-danger chances, and Lowen Kenyon made seven saves in relief.

After scoring two goals in the first period, Humboldt added five more in the second, led by an Alex Morozoff hat trick performance.

Leading scorer, Connor McGrath and winger, Braiden Koran also chipped in with a goal and two assists apiece to highlight the scoring for the Broncos, while goaltender Race Ramsay made 32 saves in the win.

With the loss, the Stars are now 19-9-5 on the season, and enter the Christmas break fifth overall in the league standings, with 43 points. The tea sit just back of Flin Flon who also have 43 points, but with two more regulation wins.

Humboldt with the win, improve to 27-8-0, and lead the league at the holiday break with 54 points.

The Stars will return to action in the new year, Jan. 4 at home against the second place, Estevan Bruins.

The NAPA Auto Parts North Stars Hockey Broadcast will be available on 1050 CJNB, with the Ultra Print Pregame Show beginning at 7 p.m., with puck drop at 7:30 p.m.
