The weather service said an Arctic high is to settle in the province overnight, resulting in bitterly cold temperatures.

“Overnight lows dipping close to -30 C will combine with winds up to 15 (kilometres per hour) overnight into early Saturday morning to produce dangerous wind chill values of -40 or lower at times,” the warning said.

“The extreme cold will abate through the day on Saturday as a push of warmer air enters the province.”

Environment Canada warned people about frostbite and reminded them to keep emergency supplies in their vehicles, including blankets and jumper cables.
