Nov 25, 2021 | 4:04 PM

COVID-19 vaccinations are now available for children ages five-11 in the Battlefords.

Starting today, Pfizer vaccines will be available every Tuesday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and every Thursday from 12:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Finning Cat Drive Thru off of Highway 16. From Nov. 24 – Dec. 8, ages 12 and older can go to the North Battleford Library every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. to get vaccinated.

There’s an additional window on Friday, Nov. 26 only, at the Finning Cat Drive Thru from 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. More information on COVID-19 clinics in the Battlefords can be found online.

Last week, Health Canada approved use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children between the ages of five and 11. More than 112,000 doses are expected in Saskatchewan, enough for every child in the age group.

As of November 25, there have been 80,667 positive cases of COVID-19 in the province, along with 78,759 recoveries and 915 deaths, for a case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent. Of the deaths, three have occurred in the 19 and younger category.

Currently, hospitalizations sit at 142 and the active case total has dropped to 993, 82 of those in the North West. A total of 831,068 Saskatchewan residents are considered fully vaccinated, just over 70 per cent of the population.
