Coming off back-to-back wins, with just two goals allowed over his last two games, North Stars goalie, Michael Harroch has been recognized as SJHL Goaltender of the Week.

Harroch opened last weekend stopping 16 of 17 shots Friday to secure a 3-1 victory over the division-rival Klippers in Kindersley, before returning home to make 33 saves on 34 shots against Nipawin in the team’s 4-1 win over the Hawks Saturday on home ice.

The standout performance from the weekend serves as just the latest from the product of North Vancouver, who has been nothing short of lights-out for the Battlefords, since being acquired by the team from Cranbrook of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) in mid-October.

In eight games with the North Stars this season, Harroch has posted a 5-1-1 record, along with shimmering 2.21 goals-against average and .938 save percentage.

Head coach, Brayden Klimosko said more than just the numbers, the play of the goaltender has been a real boon to the entire group and key to their success.

“It gives everyone confidence when you’ve got a backstopper like Mike back there doing his job,” Klimosko said. “He’s been solid since he’s got here, and obviously he had a great week last week contributing to two big wins, so it’s great to see him get recognized.”

Harroch’s numbers have helped lead the way for the North Stars, who currently sit third overall in the SJHL standings with a 14-6-2 record, just four points back of league-leading Humboldt for top spot overall.

The North Stars will return to play Friday night in Nipawin, looking to extend their winning streak to five games, against the Hawks.

The NAPA Auto Parts North Stars Hockey Broadcast will be available Friday on 1050 CJNB. The Ultra Print Pregame Show will begin at 7 p.m., with puck drop to follow at 7:30 p.m.
