Local teen reported missing, found

Update: Police have located Checkosis.

Battlefords RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 14 year-old Josaiha Checkosis.

Originally from the Poundmaker First Nation, Checkosis was last seen November 3 in North Battleford, in the area of 14th Avenue and 101st Street. Sgt. Neil Tremblay said they believe the missing teen is deliberately avoiding being located at this point.

“Given his age, we want to locate him as soon as possible,” he said.

Checkosis is described as being approximately 6’2”, 210 lbs, with brown eyes and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a red sweater with white and grey camo pants.

Tremblay said it’s likely that he’s somewhere in the Battleford or Cut Knife areas.

“There’s been some unconfirmed sightings since the date he was last substantially seen,” he said. “We’re pretty certain he’s around there somewhere.”

Anyone with information on Checkosis’ whereabouts can assist the search by calling the Battlefords RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
