City workers busy ahead of winter season

The City of North Battleford is moving to shore up street fixtures and possible fall events with snowfall looming on the horizon.

Crews were seen across the city on Friday, re-marking intersection lines for several roads. Communications coordinator Dustin MacDonald said there were many locations to attend to before the weather takes a cold turn.

“They couldn’t provide us exact locations since there were so many, so we just said to expect delays,”

However, work progressed quickly enough that MacDonald said the city may not need the allotted time scheduled to complete the update.

“We added tomorrow for the schedule, but we expect that will be done today,” he said.

MacDonald added that the city will make announcements in the coming weeks on events scheduled this winter. There will also be a community wide advisory on winter safety and vehicle maintenance.

There’s a chance of showers in the Battlefords on Saturday, where the expected high is 6 C. The following week, while largely cloudy, will see average back in the low teens.
