Another round of prize money was handed out from the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation.

The organization’s 27th Annual $100,000 Cash Lottery, whose proceeds go to their capital campaign for the OR, had their Counting Sheep draw on Oct. 15, the third stage of lottery process. Shauna J. McGifford, BUH Fund Development Officer, told battlefordsNOW that they have sold roughly 80 per cent of all available tickets for the cash lottery.

“We’d like to be a little bit higher, but we’re still doing well and we’re grateful for everyone who has purchased tickets,” she said.

The Counting Sheep winners, which are five draws of $2,700 each, included Jeanette Hall and Arnold/Smith of North Battleford and Hoffman/Donald from Maidstone. Alexandria Bernier of Meadow Lake was the $10,000 Previous Purchase winner, which McGifford said was an enjoyable phone call when they let her know about the winnings.

“She was pretty excited about it,” McGifford laughed.

Their 50/50 option has hit over $50,000 for a take home prize, supports the capital campaign in purchasing two anesthetic machines, which will cost over $200,000. The cash lottery specifically helps with purchasing a third machine.

“So it’s all part of the same campaign, but with some extra funding on top of it as well,” McGifford said.

Seeing winners which will be from multiple regions was a positive for the Foundation, which has enjoyed province wide contributions for years.

“We do get nice support from throughout the province,” McGifford said. “Some have lived or worked here before.”

Deadline for the next draw is Nov. 5, which will include the $100,000 grand prize and 27 Consolation draws worth $1,000 each. You can order tickets by calling the BUH Foundation, visiting their website or stopping by Battleford Furniture.
