North Stars exact revenge in a huge way over Ice Wolves

Oct 16, 2021 | 10:19 PM

There were so many goals scored on Saturday, nobody noticed that Battlefords North Stars’ forward Dace Prymak scored a hat trick.

No hats hit the ice to celebrate Prymak’s trifecta, as his goals were lost in all the excitement in the North Stars’ 10-3 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves Saturday at the Access Communications Centre in North Battleford.

The win improves the North Stars’ record to 7-3-1, the Ice Wolves are now 3-7-1 in the SJHL regular season. The win also exacted revenge for the North Stars, who lost 8-3 to the Ice Wolves at the Mel Hegland Uniplex in La Ronge in their previous meeting this season.

K.T. Walters and Colby Bear both had a pair of goals, while Tanner Gold, Zane Florence, and Jake Southgate also scored for the North Stars. Steven Kesslering had three assists, while Holden Doell had two.

Ulrik Roussel stopped 29 of 32 Ice Wolves’ shots for his fourth victory of the season.

Nate Looft, Daxton Lange, and Nolan Doell scored in the defeat for the Ice Wolves.

Ice Wolves goaltender Dawson Smith started the game to replace the injured Xavier Cannon, but only lasted 7:44 as he surrendered three goals on eight shots. Alex Bell saw the rest of the game and made 31 saves on 38 shots.

The North Stars will head to Melville to take on the Millionaires on Friday and stay on the road to face the Yorkton Terriers on Saturday. The North Stars will return home on Oct. 26 to face the Estevan Bruins.
