After an attempted robbery and flight from law enforcement, three individuals have been charged with several criminal offences.

Biggar RCMP were dispatched the evening of October 7 to a report of attempted robbery in Arelee, Sask., roughly 60 kilometres west of Saskatoon. Per police investigation, the suspect approached a man, assaulted him and tried to steal his vehicle. After failing to do so, the suspect fled in an SUV with two other occupants. The victim received minor injuries.

Officers attempted to pull over the SUV, which fled again and was eventually stopped by Battlefords RCMP. One male was taken into custody and two others joined him following a pursuit that involved Police Dog Services.

Further investigation following the arrests determined these same three individuals broke into a rural residence in the RM of Eagle Creek that same day.

Thirty year-old Blair Brabant of Red Pheasant First Nation, 29 year-old Rocky Meechance of Yorkton and a male youth who cannot be identified are all charged with break and enter and face numerous other charges. This includes accessory after the fact to robbery for Brabant and Meechance, resisting arrest for Meechance and the youth and two counts of failure to comply with sentence of disposition and one count of robbery for the youth. Meechance’s other offences include flight from peace officer, dangerous operation of a conveyance, fraudulently impersonating another person to avoid persecution and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited. He was also arrested on a warrant out of Regina Police Service.

All three individuals appeared in court in North Battleford on October 12.

Officers from multiple RCMP detachments and units were involved with this investigation, including the Battlefords GIS and Police Dog Services, Rosetown Traffic Services and Unity RCMP.
