A charge has been laid in connection to an election night event in Saskatoon where people were flaunting masking rules.

Saskatoon police spokesperson, Alyson Edwards says one person has received a ticket for violating a public health order, and tickets are pending against three other individuals.

The tickets are being issued in relation to the People’s Party of Canada event at the Saskatoon Inn on Sept. 20.

Police received numerous complaints from the public about people — including party leader — Maxime Bernier not wearing a mask at the event which had both indoor and outdoor components.

“We don’t reveal the names of people charged,” Edwards said. “In the past, when it has involved rallies, gatherings of this nature, they may be in violation of the public health orders, we typically look for organizations or agitators involved in those events.”

Edwards said the investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.

A PPC spokesperson said in a statement they were not aware of Mr Bernier receiving a ticket.
