Living Sky and Light of Christ staff soon required to show proof of vaccination or negative test result

Living Sky School Division and Light of Christ Catholic School Division will soon require all staff to provide proof of vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test result.

The two school divisions announced the “Vaccination Administrative Procedure” in a joint-release Tuesday, signed by Living Sky Director of Education Brenda Vickers and Board Chair Ronna Pethick, and Light of Christ Director of Education Cory Rideout and Board Chair Glen Gantefoer.

Staff were advised of the new procedure plans Oct. 8. The details are still being finalized, with more information and the implementation date expected to be available by the end of the week.

The school divisions are asking students and parents to continue to follow the Safe School Plans provided on the organizations’ respective websites.

“We take the safety of our students and staff seriously. As responsible employers and citizens of the province of Saskatchewan, we are committed to protecting the health and well-being of our students, staff members, and communities,” the two organizations said in the release.

The school divisions said they developed the Vaccination Administrative Procedure as a response to the provincewide vaccine or negative test requirements implemented by the province on Oct. 1.

“Similar requirements have already been implemented, or are in the process of implementation, for many Saskatchewan school divisions,” Living Sky and Light of Christ School Divisions said in the statement.
