Maidstone RCMP execute arrest following public tip

Maidstone RCMP have arrested and charged three people with multiple offences, following a brief pursuit.

Officers responded to a call in the Town on September 10, where they located a grey SUV with two occupants and a white car with one female, determining that both vehicles were stolen. A female suspect, 24 year-old Gabrielle Bell of Onion Lake Cree Nation, was arrested on scene and charged with possession of stolen property, identify fraud and breaching a release order.

The SUV fled the area at a high speed, avoiding the officers attempt at a traffic stop. Later, police received a call that a man had filled up a jerry can at the store and left it on a sidewalk in Maidstone, where the SUV eventually came and picked it up, continuing to evade police. Shortly after, 27 year-old Steven Vu of Maidstone was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and obstruction.

Later during the investigation, officers located the SUV passenger, 34 year-old Jeffery Gervais, who was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and obstruction. The SUV was later recovered in Calgary, Alta.

The three attended court on Sept. 13. Bell was released, while the male suspects were adjourned. Gervais is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 16 and Vu is scheduled to appear Sept. 20.

The Maidstone RCMP thanked the public for their diligence and assistance in reporting tips. The investigation is ongoing.
