Highway 40 closed, large vehicle theft near Frenchman Butte

Update: Highway 40 near Neilburg is now open.

Cut Knife RCMP are advising motorists to avoid Highway 40 east of Neilburg.

The lanes are closed from Freemont Road to Winter Road, five kilometres east of the town, due to a rolled semi. According to police, that will remain while the semi is being removed and delays are expected. Motorists are asked to slow down and follow police directions and detours in place until further notice.

Break and enter near Frenchman Butte

Turtleford RCMP are investigating a break and enter within the RM of Frenchman Butte.

This reportedly ocurred between Aug. 4–9 at a rural land location and multiple items and trailers were stolen. This includes a white 1995 Conquest travel trailer with a Alberta license plate of 886-954, a black 2003 SWS Utility trailer with an Alberta license plate of T12-104 and a 3500 Watt Coleman Generator. Over 100 Gallons of diesel, a set of rubber skid steer tires with black painted rims and various other carpentry and construction tools taken.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance as they continue to investigate. Anyone with information related to this report can call the Turtleford detachment, 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
