North Stars Golf Classic to take place Friday at Jackfish Lodge

Sep 9, 2021 | 5:00 PM

Over 80 golfers from around the community will converge on the Jackfish Lodge Golf Course Friday afternoon for the North Stars Annual Golf Classic.

Featuring players past and present who have suited up for the local ‘Junior A’ franchise, the afternoon provides an opportunity for fans and supporters of the team to connect with the Stars’ alum outside of the local rink while enjoying a day on the links.

Head coach of the Stars, Brayden Klimosko said the event is one the team looks forward to each year with Friday being no exception.

“We’ve got a good turnout this year and some alumni coming back as well, so it should be a good day,” Klimosko said. “The weather looks like it should cooperate for the most part too, so we’re looking forward to getting some golfing in.”

Tomorrow’s forecast is predicting clear skies by the afternoon with a high of 24 degrees on the day.

After last year’s event was cancelled due to the pandemic, Klimosko said just seeing a full 20 teams registered for the event this year speaks to the support the team receives from the community and local businesses.

“This is about what we usually get, so we’re pretty happy with that, and hopefully everyone has some fun,” Klimosko said. “We have some great sponsors as a lot of people and businesses chipped in this year and we’re looking forward to a great day.”

Registration Friday will open at 11 a.m., with shotgun start to commence at 12 p.m.
