JENA, Germany — Jeff (The Silencer) Smith and Matt (Ginga Ninja) Campbell, who reached the quarterfinals last year, return to represent Canada at the Cazoo World Cup of Darts in Germany this week.

Smith, a welder from Hamilton, and Campbell — a native of Hampton, N.B., who works at an auto body shop in nearby Saint John when he is not on the pro darts circuit — open Friday against No. 8 seed Germany in the 32-country field.

The competition runs Thursday through Sunday at the Sparkassen Arena. It features prize money of 350,000 pounds ($610,880) with 70,000 pounds ($122,750) going to the winning team.

Smith and Campbell defeated fourth-seeded Northern Ireland and New Zealand last year in Salzburg, Austria, before dropping a 2-1 decision to No. 5 Belgium. It marked Canada’s first trip to the quarterfinals since 2016.
