Free drive-in movie night sends off summer

Families in North Battleford will be able to take in a free drive-in movie on Friday, thanks to the city and its partners.

Community Programmer and Don Ross Centre Manager Siobhan Gormley says the Send-off to Summer show this year is the animated adventure Raya and the Last Dragon.

“It’s a good opportunity for people to get out and enjoy a free family event,” she said.

Innovation Credit Union is the main sponsor. Rivers West District for Sport, Culture & Recreation, and Magic Lantern Theatres are also sponsoring the event.

Parking admittance begins at 6 p.m., with the show scheduled for an 8 p.m. start, on the field adjacent to the Credit Union CUplex.

There will also be free popcorn to enjoy during the evening as well.

Gormley says the popcorn is an added bonus. It wasn’t offered last year because of COVID-19 restrictions but it was on offer the year before that.

Some food trucks will also be on-site for the event for those craving more goodies or a drink.

“We’ve had them for a couple of years,” Gormley said.
