Backyard Concert Series to feature country artist Katelyn Lehner

Prince Albert’s Katelyn Lehner is coming to North Battleford Sept. 9, as part of Artistic Nomad Productions’ third installment of their Backyard Concert Series.

Lehner is in the midst of a year to remember.

In January, her debut single “Red” entered the Trax Canadian Country Radio chart, and held a #1 spot on CBC SiriusXM radio. The following month she also cracked the Top 10 of the Canadian Country Female Radio charts and top 50 of the Canadian only Country Radio charts.

In the spring, the budding country music standout was then named Emerging Artist of the Year at the 32^nd Annual Saskatchewan Country Music Awards, with her first show post-pandemic in Regina opening for country star Dean Brody.

Lehner said she’s looking forward to the opportunity ahead to perform in North Battleford, as she really enjoys the close-up connection with the audience that comes with performing in a more intimate backyard setting.

“[Backyard shows] are really fun; they’re obviously a lot more personable, as rather than being on a stage in front of an audience, you kind of just feel like you’re hanging out with everyone so I’m really looking forward to this one,” she said.

Lehner added that anytime she can perform in her home province it tends to be a special experience.

“I think Saskatchewan just really roots for their own,” she continued. “There’s a real sense of community and there’s always the support here, so between the radio stations in the province here and the turnouts and opportunity to perform, I just feel very welcomed.”

Director of Artistic Nomad Productions, Dannyll Challis said they could not be happier to have Lehner come and perform for their Backyard Concert Series.

“She’s an up and comer in the country music scene in Saskatchewan and she has a couple of songs now that have gone on to the country billboard chart,” he said. “She just recently opened for Dean Brody, so she’s making a name for herself and we’re probably pretty lucky to get her now, as I have a feeling she’s really going places.”
