Long-standing derelict property demolished in North Battleford

The City of North Battleford is continuing its efforts to deal with derelict properties in the community.

On Monday, a boarded-up property at 1461 101 Street slated for demolition due to its ongoing poor condition was taken down.

“We tried working with the property owner to get it fixed up again,” City Planner Ryan Mackrell said, adding that the issues were not resolved.

Mackrell said the city had been trying to have the property improved for many years for health and safety reasons.

“This was one that was on our list to reach out to the property owners to bring up to a certain condition, or it has to be demolished,” Mackrell said. “So it came to the demolition stage unfortunately.”

The demolition process was expected to be completed later in the day Monday.
