Active cases currently at 1,038 in Saskatchewan, 464 in northern zones

Eighty-five new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed today by the Saskatchewan government.

This brings the total to 51,390 reported cases, 1,038 cases are considered active and 49,766 cases are considered recovered.

In the six northern zones of the province there are currently 464 active cases of COVID-19.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (nine), Far North Central (one), Far North East (four), North West (five), North Central (eight), North East (eight).

Over than one-third (37.6 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.

With no new death reported today, the total deaths of Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 remains at 586 with a provincial fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

Another 1,166 vaccines were reported today with over 6,000 reported over the last three days. Total vaccinations currently sits at 1,447,827 and 676,839 residents fully vaccinated.

NITHA Data

As of Aug. 15, there are 129 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.
These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 23; Far North West, 41; Far North East, 62; North Central, two; and North East, one; 4177 cases (96 per cent) have recovered, and two people are being hospitalized.

As of Aug. 15, there are 129 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities in the province.

There are 86 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; 14, Far North West, 27; and Far North East, 43; North Central, two; and North East, 0.

Athabasca Health Authority

Recent reports from the Athabasca Health Authority are showing a slight increase in positive COVID cases over Friday and the weekend. The authority reported 72 total cases since July 23 on Aug. 12 while reporting 78 on Aug. 15.

There are 25 cases currently active in the region that includes Black Lake and Stony Rapids.

There has been 431 total cases in 2020.
