RCMP Report: Missing teen search continues, youth arrested

Aug 6, 2021 | 8:00 AM

For another week, Battlefords RCMP have been unable to locate 13 year-old Skyler Tinker.

The North Battleford teenager has been missing since May, as he continues to evade law enforcements efforts to find him. At this time, Staff Sgt. Jason Teniuk said it’s a matter of remaining relentless, as they continue to search in Saskatoon.

“The benefit we have is that we believe he is fine,” he said. “It’s just that he doesn’t want to be found and is evading efforts to locate him.”

“We’ll keep working with Saskatoon police until we find him. We just want to make sure he’s OK.”

Tinker is the only active investigation from five missing persons cases that were filed that week.

Breaking and entering teen found intoxicated

Battlefords RCMP responded to 530 calls for service in the noted time period. These included the arrest of three individuals that brought a seizure of drugs and weapons, as well as Tuesday’s arrest of a man in possession of a machete and bear mace.

There were a total of 11 break and enter investigations, with one unusual case. On July 29, RCMP arrested and charged a 14 year-old male who had broken into a garage in North Battleford. Heavily intoxicated, the teenager was caught by two contractors working on the residence who called the police. Teniuk said there’s limited information available given the individual’s age.

“Any time we’re dealing with a young offender, there’s different precautions that we’re dealing with,” he said. “That’s a bit of a unique file and always little more difficult.”

Other numbers from the week included 26 assault investigations, 23 Mental Health Act investigations, six charges for unregistered vehicles, 54 charges for various driving offences, six impaired driving investigations and 12 traffic collisions.

The detachment had 12 vehicle theft files for the week, with two unresolved. These were a grey 2011 GMC Sierra 2500HD, with a Saskatchewan license plate of 538-KWL, as well as a red 2007 Ford F-150, with a Saskatchewan license plate of 681-MGM. Teniuk said those two thefts occurred in different areas and are unlikely to be related.

Anyone with information on any incident is urged to call the detachment, 310-RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
