Laboucane bests own track record, wins aggregate in Frog Lake

It was another night to remember for St. Walburg’s Jamie Laboucane at the Frog Lake Midwest Chuckwagon Classic, Sunday.

The product of St. Walburg posted the fast time of the night, set a new track record, and won the Dash with a time of 1:14.84. Laboucane had also held the previous record time for the track of 1:15.93, which he had set just days before on the stop.

In addition, Laboucane also took top spot in the aggregate standings with a show total of 3:48.43 over the four-day event.

Chauvin, Alta.’s Brad McMann (3:49.31) and Lloydminster’s BJ Carey (3:49.39) finished second and third in the aggregate.

With his success in Frog Lake, Laboucane now sits sixth overall in the 2021 Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) Standings with 552 points. Laboucane is currently just 17 points back of Bonnyville, Alta.’s Danny Ringuette (569) for fifth spot overall.

Meadow Lake’s Logan Gorst currently holds the top spot overall with 631.5 points.

Next up on the CPCA racing schedule the summer tour will stop in Poundmaker Cree Nation Aug. 5–8, followed by Meadow Lake Aug. 13–15. The Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds are where things will wrap up for the summer season on Aug. 18–22.
