RCMP Report: Man fleeing police arrested for possession, other charges
Battlefords RCMP have arrested and charged a 21-year-old male with multiple offences this week.
Police attempted to stop a vehicle early in the morning on July 24 in North Battleoford which had been driving dangerously. The vehicle fled from the scene, but was located a short time later on 105th Street and the suspect was taken into custody. A stun gun was found during the search, which Sgt. Neil Tremblay said wasn’t far from a police Taser.
“Some people can find commercial ones,” he said. “The one he had was illegal.”
Quarte Merasty is charged with flight from police, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon and operation of a vehicle while impaired. He also faces three counts of breach of probation. Merasty made his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial court on Monday.
