RCMP Report: calls down, assaults result in arrests
Battlefords RCMP saw a drop in total calls for service this past week, but still dealt with several arrests, including a male in the Cochin district wielding a machete.
Police arrested 27-year-old Chandler Mooswa of Moosomin First Nation July 14, after a report came in that he had entered a yard and begun to stab at the door of the residence while making back-handed threats towards the caller. Fortunately when the RCMP arrived, he was completely cooperative.
Sgt. Neil Tremblay said it was fortunate that no one was injured. According to the report, Tremblay said this was a case as much of intoxication and the suspect not really knowing what he was doing, “but obviously, walking down any street with a weapon of that nature is going to be concerning to people,” Tremblay said.
Mooswa is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief to property and failing to comply with an undertaking, which applies when someone is before the court for a different matter and is required to keep the peace. He appeared in North Battleford court on July 15.
