2021 property revaluation year

Still time to appeal your property assessment value

Jul 12, 2021 | 5:18 PM

The City of North Battleford is reminding residents they still have time, if they wish, to appeal their property revaluation.

City Communications administrator Dustin MacDonald says appeals go through the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA).

“If they feel like their assessment has bumped up more than it should have, then they can submit their appeal to SAMA,” he said.

Every four years the agency determines a property’s assessed value, factoring in a number of details, such as location and size.

“Those calculations are based on sales data from comparable properties,” said MacDonald. “It’s supposed to reflect the property’s value as of January 1, 2019.”

If people believe their assessment has increased more than it should have, or is not accurate, they can make an appeal to SAMA by contacting them at 306-446-7665.

The city is responsible for receiving and submitting revaluation appeals on behalf of residents.

The deadline to submit an appeal is 4:30 p.m., July 19.

If residents did not receive their revaluation assessment notice from the city, they should contact the city’s tax clerk as soon as possible at 306-445-1706.

All property owners—residential, commercial, agricultural, or otherwise—should have received a Property Assessment Notice in the mail with their updated property value.
