The Battlefords Volleyball Club (BVC) has seen a number of their players recognized amongst the best in the province this summer.

Two players from the local club, Rylan Teasdale and Isaiah Mamer, have been invited to be part of the 2022 Canada Games training group for Team Saskatchewan with a chance to try and crack the provincial roster for the games in Niagara Aug. 6-21, 2022.

Additionally, another eight members from BVC have also been invited to participate with Team Saskatchewan’s training group this summer in their various age groups for the annual Sask. Summer Games later this year.

Among the eight invited are Maryn Kachmarski, who will train with the 15U women’s team; Taylor Bugg and Mya Lavallee with the 17U women; Jaydon Joyal with the 15/16U men; and Josh Fransoo, Marc Revet, Landen Roznowski, and Owen Clarke with the 17U men.

Coach with BVC, Regan Lavallee said it’s been great to see so many of the club’s local athletes from the community get an invite to participate and compete for a spot amongst the best in Saskatchewan.

“It’s huge to have athletes from our club chosen to have that opportunity and it means volleyball is growing in North Battleford and we’re producing some good athletes,” Lavallee said. “It’s nice to see volleyball be recognized in the Battlefords with these athletes who have grown up here. And whether they make it to that next step or not, it’s just an amazing opportunity for them.”

The eight players invited to train for the Sask. Summer Games will train throughout the month of July, with the official 2021 Team Saskatchewan expected to be named next month.

Teasdale and Mamer meanwhile, are currently wrapping up their first week of training in Saskatoon, and will transition to Regina next week to continue training with the chance to make the final round of cuts, which will take place later this summer at the end of August in Regina.

Taryn Hannah, who is another local volleyball player outside BVC, was also invited to train with and compete for a roster spot with Team Saskatchewan at next year’s 2022 Canada Summer Games.

The Canada Games take place every two years across the country, while the Sask. Summer Games are held annually in the province.
