Trafficking and possession charges have been laid in relation to cocaine, following a traffic stop on Highway 16 near Maidstone in June where the driver was arrested.

A Saskatchewan RCMP Roving Traffic Unit officer stopped the vehicle on the afternoon of June 24, where the following investigation found two kilograms of cocaine, two ounces of cannabis and a sum of cash. According to the Global Drug Survey for 2019, the street value of one gram of cocaine is around $85, meaning the seizure is valued at around $8,500.

Following the arrest, 35-year-old Robin Bernhart of Edmonton, Alta, is charged with four criminal offences: trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possessing property obtained by crime in an amount less than $5,000 and possessing more than 30 grams of cannabis in a public place.

Bernhart will appear in Lloydminster court on August 24.
