Sixteen-year-old appears in court to face robbery and gun charges
A 16-year-old boy facing a number of weapons related charges muttered the words “innocent til proven guilty” when his charges were discussed Monday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.
He was one of three people charged following incidents northwest of Prince Albert on June 19. Shots were fired by the suspects at two different rural properties and a number of items were stolen.
Crown Prosecutor Jon Morrall stated on the record he would be seeking an adult sentence, if the accused was convicted.
The youth, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, appeared by phone from the Prince Albert RCMP detachment. He was ultimately remanded and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on July 9.
