Onion Lake RCMP arrest driver after truck hits pedestrian

Onion Lake RCMP arrested an adult male on Monday after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.

The complaint of a hit-and-run on Onion Lake Cree Nation came in early Saturday morning where the adult male victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries. There is currently no update on his condition. The driver of the vehicle, a pick-up truck, left the scene on foot, but was located shortly after at a residence nearby.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, 24-year-old Grayden Cardinal of Onion Lake Cree Nation has been charged with impaired operation causing bodily harm, and failure/refusal to comply with demand with an accident resulting in bodily harm. He appears in court on October 20.

Onion Lake RCMP continues to investigate, supplemented by the Battlefords Forensic Identification Section and the RCMP Collision Reconstruction Unit.
