Giveaway for community-built vehicle launching June 21

Pattison radio listeners will soon have the biggest summer contest since pre-pandemic life.

93.3 The Rock in North Battleford is bringing back a prize vehicle giveaway with ‘Win a Free Ride,’ a summer long event where one person will walk away with a 2014 Dodge Charger. This is the biggest contest the station and its affiliates have hosted since 2019 and it is uniquely connected to the community.

Every piece of the Charger has been rebuilt through sponsors and partners, in order to present it in this final form, as the vehicle has been built up to more than $30,000 in value. Head of Programming Nic Fransoo said the contest is a natural progression from their contest ‘The Rock Machine’ in 2019 and perfect as people see an end-date in sight for public health restrictions.

“It was such a huge success that we thought we’d try to make it strike twice and we thought now that we’re coming back to reality, let’s give everybody an opportunity to be involved and make this thing a reality,” he said.

The contest kicks off June 21, where the Charger will make it’s first appearance at Red Pheasant Centex, before appearing throughout the Battlefords and other communities, including a planned week in Meadow lake. The winner will be announced Sept. 11.

Fransoo said it was important to involve all four Pattison stations for the region, as well as make sure anyone in the broadcast region will have an opportunity to win. Coming out of the pandemic, he said they wanted to keep highlighting their partners and businesses in general.

“Without them we wouldn’t be here, so it gave us a chance to get a huge host of partners to get involved,” he said. “Not only from building the actual car, but us visiting different places throughout the listening area.”

Fransoo added that it should provide plenty of fun interactions with residents throughout the summer, especially as restrictions are lifted, and hopefully be a sign of good things to come.

“It gives our listeners an opportunity to see the vehicle, see that business, meet entrepreneurs putting themselves out there and win an incredible prize,” he said. “We’re hoping to find ways to do more contesting like this, more events that will bring listeners more enjoyment and something more to do.”

More details on the contest, including eligibility, are available online.
