Onion Lake males arrested following traffic stop

Two men from Onion Lake Saskatchewan have been arrested, one on multiple charges and the other on warrants out of Lloydminster, following a traffic stop on Saturday.

Officers pulled over a vehicle with an expired plate on Saturday evening. The subsequent search found a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine, drug packaging material, a scale, multiple imitation firearms, an illegally-possessed and altered firearm and other weapons.

As a result of this investigation, 39 year-old Aaron Chief, the driver of the vehicle, is charged with 13 criminal offences, including three counts of failing to comply with a release order condition, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of an unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon. The six additional charges include:

· Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle

· Resisting/obstructing a police officer

· Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking

· Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number

· Possession of property obtained by Crime less than $5,000

· Carrying a concealed weapon

Chief appeared in Lloydminster court on June 7.

Zack Thomas, the 26 year-old passenger of the vehicle, was arrested on warrants out of the Lloydminster RCMP detachment and was later transported there.
