R.M. of North Battleford reinstates fire ban
A fire ban is coming back to the Rural Municipality of North Battleford.
The RM decided to issue the ban on Thursday due to dry conditions. The region is seeing temperatures well above seasonal averages, including near record highs in North Battleford. There is a possibility of showers Friday and at the tail end of the weekend.
Burning permits will not be issued until further notice and ratepayers are asked to refrain from lighting burning barrels and garbage pits at this time. The RM’s volunteer fire department thanked residents for their co-operation during recent weeks and in anticipating this situation.
The City of North Battleford is one of the few municipalities to keep their fire ban in place after rain the previous weekend. However, those with approved fire pits within city limits are still able to have fires, though the department has asked for extreme caution.
