Two of those accused in Moosomin homicide investigation see charges upgraded

Two individuals had their charges upgraded in North Battleford provincial court recently, related to the death of Damian Moosomin last year.

Stormy Wapass-Semaganis and Jannay Blackbird are both each now facing a charge of first degree murder in the case.

Wapass-Semaganis is due back in court May 26, while Blackbird is scheduled to return June 22.

Four other individuals are also facing charges.

Tye Partridge, facing a charge of first degree murder, is due back in court June 22. Melissa Semaganis who is charged with accessory after the fact to murder is scheduled to return to court May 26. Denver Roy, charged with accessory after the fact to murder and improperly interfere with human remains, is also set to return May 26.

Also among the accused individuals is a male who was under the age of 18 at the time of the offence. He is charged with accessory after the fact, and cannot be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Damian Moosomin, 20, was found deceased in the backyard of a property in the 1500 block of 105 Street in North Battleford on May 16, 2020. He was originally reported missing to police May 11 of that year.

The allegations against the accused individuals have not been proven in court.
